The Abner Martin Music Scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving student who is affiliated with a congregation in Mennonite Church Eastern Canada and is a full-time student in a graduate or undergraduate music program. This year’s award comes from the earnings of the scholarship endowment fund and donations from the Jim and Lorna Blair Charitable Foundation and the Wallenstein Feed Charitable Foundation.
The 2025 recipients of this scholarship are:

Tian Ip is in her first year of a PhD program in Music Therapy, at Wilfrid Laurier University, researching how music-playing can serve as a treatment plan for motor and cognitive symptoms in Parkinson’s disease. She is currently serving as the director of music at Listowel Mennonite Church.

Sarah Brown is beginning a Master of Arts in the Faculty of Music at Western University, with an interest in the interpretation of Orthodox liturgical music during the mid to late Middle Ages. She sings in the choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Guelph, as well as the Spiritus Ensemble.
